About the role

  • Responsible for staking electrical distribution lines in accordance with the clients specifications and standards.
  • Provide additional support, as needed, to the surveying and distribution design departments.
  • Complete field notes/staking sheets and computer computations.
  • Utilize level rod, prism pole or tape at designated points to assist in determining location and elevations of various features.
  • Lay out stakes for map-making, land construction, Electric Transmission/Distribution line construction and other surveys.
  • Cut and clear brush and trees from line of survey with machete, brush hook or chain saw.
  • Keep crew vehicle stocked with supplies and equipment; clean and organize vehicle.
  • Ability to take personal responsibility for the quality, accuracy and time constraints of work product.
  • Comply with company policies, including safety rules and regulations.
  • Additional duties as requested.

Requirements

  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • Possess a current Texas Drivers License with an insurable driving record.
  • Ability to walk and carry hammers, stakes, lathes, etc. for the purpose of laying out staking for Electric Distribution Design over and across various terrain.
  • Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying of weights. Sitting/standing/walking for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work outdoors extended hours, occasional overtime, and overnight travel.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in distribution line design and staking is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with boundary, topographic, as-built surveys, construction staking, ROW staking, staking of electric distribution lines, staking electric transmission lines is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity of GPS equipment and data collection is a plus, but not required.
