About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review comprehensive study guides, learning materials, and assessment activities in accordance with approved module outlines and institutional templates.
- Evaluate learning content for alignment with programme outcomes, curriculum requirements, institutional standards, and NQF expectations.
- Review formative and summative assessments for validity, reliability, and academic rigor.
- Ensure learning materials are current, academically sound, and incorporate relevant research and best practices.
- Evaluate content for suitability in distance and blended learning environments.
- Ensure language accuracy, academic integrity, instructional quality, and consistency throughout learning materials.
- Collaborate with Programme Coordinators, Subject Matter Experts, Editors, and the Quality Assurance Office.
- Provide academic feedback and recommendations for revisions and updates.
- Ensure compliance with institutional quality assurance standards and regulatory requirements.
- Meet review milestones and submission deadlines.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree in Education or the relevant discipline related to the module(s) applied for (essential).
- At least two years' experience in higher education, curriculum review, content review, academic writing, or learning material development.
- Demonstrable experience reviewing study guides, learning materials, or assessments within higher education.
- Strong subject knowledge in the relevant discipline.
- Excellent academic writing, curriculum review, and instructional design skills.
- Sound understanding of curriculum development and assessment practices within higher education.
- Knowledge of South African higher education policies, teaching and learning practices, and curriculum frameworks.
- Familiarity with South African higher education quality assurance frameworks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to academic quality.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines.
- Excellent communication, planning, and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital learning platforms.
- Computer literacy with access to a reliable internet connection and a laptop or desktop computer.
- A recognised teaching qualification will be advantageous where applicable.
- Experience in distance or online education will serve as an advantage.
- A doctoral qualification or current doctoral studies is an added advantage.
- Previous experience reviewing learning materials for private higher education institutions is an added advantage.
- Experience in Long Distance and e-Learning environments is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of learning management systems and educational technologies is an added advantage.
