About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build backend business logic, data models, APIs, integrations, administrative workflows, customer-facing interfaces, and automated tests
- Contribute as a full member of the engineering team from day one
- Deliver meaningful production work
- Use AI-first development workflows with Claude Code and Codex
- Collaborate in a high-trust team by sharing context, raising risks early, and asking questions
- Consider end users and connect technical decisions to business problems
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, completed before employment begins
- Current students may apply if they will graduate before the start date
- Evidence of practical programming experience through a capstone, internship, personal project, open source contribution, research project, freelance engagement, or another hands-on project
- Confidence in at least one programming language, including ability to build, debug, and explain logic
- Understanding of web development fundamentals, including HTTP, APIs, authentication, databases, browser interfaces, version control, and automated testing
- Logical problem-solving ability
- Product judgment
- Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States
- Normal workday must overlap by at least six hours with the Salt Lake City team
- Professional software engineering experience is not required
- Prior Laravel experience is not required
