About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide information and counsel to prospective and current students and/or parents.
  • Determine eligibility for and award financial aid in accordance with Federal, state, and institutional policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional legislation, regulations, and policies.
  • Counsel prospective, new, and current students and parents in all matters concerning the financial aid process, including application procedures, packaging policies, terms and conditions of awards, alternative funding options individualizing information to the specific needs and situation of the student.
  • Facilitate student problem resolution.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 5 years of experience with financial aid or similarly related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and synthesize information from students/parents to effectively counsel.
  • Working knowledge of state program rules and regulations, as they pertain to financial aid in the State of Maryland.
  • Working knowledge of Title IV rules and regulations, as they pertain to Federal Student Financial Aid.
  • Working knowledge of and abides by the regulations of Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite, Colleague, Workday, Slate).
