About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify emerging research opportunities and analytical needs.
  • Develop research concepts and briefs together with analysts and data scientists.
  • Translate complex technical findings into accurate, accessible and compelling narratives.
  • Identify the strongest findings, comparisons and policy-relevant insights from emerging analysis.
  • Lead the preparation of analytical briefs, reports, commentaries, media notes, reactive statements and other research outputs.
  • Produce or coordinate clear charts, graphics and other visual materials that strengthen the communication of findings.
  • Stay abreast of developments in energy, climate and air quality policy and contribute to analytical projects.
  • Ensure outputs support CREA's strategic objectives while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, credibility and clarity.
  • Work with partner organisations to incorporate technical, policy and regional expertise and ensure outputs reflect local contexts rather than one-size-fits-all narratives.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in research, policy analysis, journalism, consulting, or another analytical environment.
  • Higher education or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field, such as energy, environmental science, economics or a related discipline.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English, with the ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly and accurately for different audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to engage critically with quantitative evidence, data visualizations and technical reports;
  • Knowledge of energy markets, electricity systems, fossil fuels, clean energy or air quality and willingness to expand the knowledge domain.
  • Experience engaging with media, policymakers, civil society organisations or international institutions.
  • Experience producing high-quality reports, policy briefs, articles, or other analytical publications.
