About the role

  • Assist in growing and leading a high performing roadway/highway design team consisting of engineers and technicians; provide mentorship and guidance to junior-level engineers and other team members to aid in their professional development; foster a collaborative and positive work environment among the team.
  • Serve as a project manager for roadway/highway design projects, overseeing and participating in project execution from initiation to completion; monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Perform quality checks on work performed by project team members; provide leadership in the planning, design, and execution of major projects; prepare project documents, design, conduct analyses, interpret data, and plan and coordinate the engineering work to ensure timely and successful project delivery; review and approve project deliverables, including drawings and specifications; serve as a technical expert in roadway design engineering; identify opportunities for process improvement and implement measures to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality of work.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of service, communication, and client satisfaction; collaborate with senior management on strategic planning and assists with business development; prepare proposals and/or funding applications.
  • You may also be involved in other various responsibilities and projects in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Roadway/Highway design engineering
  • Experience working on KYTC projects
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Experience with project management and accounting software
  • Exceptional organization skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team
