About the role
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
- Oversee the development lifecycle, manage timelines, allocate resources, and ensure deliverables meet VA’s mission and business objectives.
- Create and maintain project schedules and detailed project plans to track progress, dependencies, and milestones.
- Manage the product backlog by prioritizing features, enhancements, and bug fixes in alignment with stakeholder needs and program objectives.
- Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define scope, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Provide solution architecture guidance and ensure scalability, security, and maintainability of applications.
- Develop and maintain applications, workflows, automations, and dashboards to streamline business processes.
- Mentor and guide junior developers, conduct code reviews, and enforce best practices.
- Manage and resolve risks, dependencies, and issues across the project lifecycle.
- Integrate Power Platform solutions with other Microsoft services and third-party applications.
- Prepare project documentation, technical guides, and provide training as needed.
- Stay current on Power Platform updates and emerging technologies to recommend innovative improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Microsoft technologies, including 3+ years of hands-on Power Platform development (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
- Proven experience leading technical teams or projects, with responsibility for delivery oversight.
- Proficiency in Power BI and other similar query languages (Power Query, M, DAX, SQL, R).
- Strong understanding of solution architecture, data integration, connectors, APIs, and security models.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, deliver under tight timelines, and balance both technical and business considerations.
- Experience creating and maintaining project schedules and plans using tools such as Microsoft Project.
- Demonstrated ability to lead requirements gathering workshops with customers at all levels within an organization.
- Experience managing and prioritizing a product backlog using tools such as Jira.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
- Desired: Previous VA or federal government experience; active or previously held Public Trust clearance.
- Desired: Previous experience interpreting mental health, suicide prevention data, and other electronic health records (EHR) data for clinical decision making and program evaluation.
- Desired: Project management certification or Agile experience (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, CSM, PSM).
- Desired: Demonstrated understanding of Human Capital Design (HCD) and/or User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) best practices.
- Desired: Microsoft Power Platform certifications.
