About the role
- Serve as Scrum Master within a SAFe Agile Release Train, facilitating all team-level SAFe events (Daily Stand-ups, Iteration Planning, System Demos, Iteration Reviews, and Retrospectives).
- Coach the RFMSS team on SAFe principles, Lean-Agile mindset, and continuous improvement practices.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owner to refine and maintain a prioritized team backlog aligned with user needs and program objectives.
- Foster close coordination with Army stakeholders and end users to ensure that user adoption, training, and engagement priorities are effectively addressed.
- Work with Release Train Engineers (RTEs), System Architects, and other Scrum Masters to identify and resolve cross-team dependencies and blockers.
- Track team metrics (velocity, iteration goals, improvement items) and communicate progress to leadership and stakeholders.
- Drive a culture of user-focused service delivery, proactive problem-solving, and transparent communication across the team.
- Support Inspect & Adapt events, Program Increment (PI) Planning, and continuous improvement cycles at the ART level.
- Provide leadership and strategic planning to ensure team alignment with product vision and roadmap.
Requirements
- Active Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master in a software development environment.
- 5 + years of experience in direct support to the Department of Defense (DoD).
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment.
- Strong facilitation, servant leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience working with military stakeholders and managing user support activities in complex DoD settings.
- Experience with the Army enterprise training platforms.
- Certified SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or equivalent SAFe Agile certification.
- Experience in Agile Release Train coordination and cross-team collaboration.
- Familiarity with Agile tools such as Gitlab, Jira, Azure DevOps, or Rally.
