About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support sales staff in developing bid and proposal responses for sales opportunities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for network cabling systems, including materials, labor, and expenses such as travel, parking, and tooling
- Support bid proposal development in alignment with project budgets and timelines
- Review schedules, drawings, specifications, and other project documents to understand project scope
- Identify and document project requirements under the guidance of senior estimators
- Create scope-of-work documents for customer clarity and Operations execution
- Obtain material and equipment pricing from vendors
- Build and maintain supplier relationships to support competitive pricing
- Collaborate with sales, project managers, and engineers to ensure estimates meet project needs
- Provide clear, organized documentation for estimates and related information
- Stay updated on network cabling industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices
- Participate in training and mentorship programs to develop technical and estimation skills
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2–3 years of experience estimating network cabling projects
- Strong foundational knowledge of network cabling systems, materials, and installation practices, including copper and fiber cabling and pathways
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Bluebeam Revu or similar software
- Detail oriented
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to effectively read, write, and present information in bid responses
- Ability to read and interpret project drawings, specifications, and other project documents
- Ability to manage multiple projects and estimates while keeping project details separately organized
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specification documents, and technical documents
- Associate’s Degree in Construction Management, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred
- 1 year of structured cabling industry experience preferred
