About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic oversight and day-to-day management of employee benefits and leave of absence programs
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of five benefits and leave professionals
  • Establish performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching and professional development
  • Manage staffing plans, workload distribution, and succession planning
  • Oversee health and welfare benefits administration, including enrollments, life events, status changes, terminations, and annual enrollment
  • Partner with vendors, Total Rewards, Payroll, HR Operations, HR Business Partners, Legal, and Finance teams
  • Oversee FMLA, ADA, disability, state, military, workers' compensation, and company leave programs
  • Manage escalated leave cases and provide guidance on accommodations and interactive processes
  • Monitor leave metrics, case timelines, return-to-work activities, and benefit retro payments
  • Ensure compliance with benefits and leave laws, regulations, policies, and audit requirements
  • Maintain documentation, procedures, audit controls, confidentiality, and information security
  • Lead process-improvement initiatives and optimize Workday and vendor platforms
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, workflows, and knowledge resources
  • Manage vendor performance and service-delivery expectations
  • Support organizational initiatives and projects affecting employee benefits and leave programs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent experience considered
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration, leave administration, or HR operations
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, ACA, and state leave regulations
  • Experience working with Workday
  • Experience managing third-party leave administrators and benefits vendors
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
  • Legally authorized to be employed in the United States
  • CEBS, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred
  • Healthcare or multi-state employer experience preferred
  • Project management and process improvement experience preferred
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, talk, hear, and walk; lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds
