Elder Access Line Attorney

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Evaluate Centralized Intake Unit applications to determine eligibility and level of service
- Conduct legal research, client interviews, and fact gathering to provide legal advice and recommendations
- Educate clients regarding legal options, processes, and potential outcomes
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to serve clients effectively
- Assist with daily intake operations and client service delivery
- Ensure compliance with Legal Services Corporation (LSC) regulations and recordkeeping requirements
- Maintain and develop knowledge of legal issues affecting elders and low-income communities
- Support outreach and education efforts within the elder community statewide
- Build and maintain relationships with partner agencies and community organizations
- Assist in developing intake guidance materials, scripts, and documentation
- Participate in AccessLine and ElderAccessLine call support as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing with the Nebraska State Bar, or admission imminent
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a statewide team environment
- Commitment to serving low-income and older adult communities
- Interest in elder law, public interest law, legal aid, or client-service work (preferred)
- Experience working with vulnerable or underserved communities through employment, internships, clinics, externships, volunteer work, or legal practice (preferred)
- Demonstrated commitment to public service (preferred)
- Bilingual language skills are a plus (preferred)
