About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Evaluate Centralized Intake Unit applications to determine eligibility and level of service
  • Conduct legal research, client interviews, and fact gathering to provide legal advice and recommendations
  • Educate clients regarding legal options, processes, and potential outcomes
  • Assist in supervising, training, and mentoring intake paralegals and support staff
  • Help manage daily workflow and intake operations
  • Ensure compliance with Legal Services Corporation (LSC) regulations and recordkeeping requirements
  • Maintain current knowledge of legal issues affecting elders and low-income communities
  • Support outreach and education efforts within the elder community statewide
  • Build and maintain relationships with partner agencies and community organizations
  • Assist in developing intake guidance materials, scripts, and documentation
  • Participate in AccessLine and ElderAccessLine call support as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Nebraska State Bar, or admission imminent
  • Experience practicing law, preferably in elder law, legal aid, public interest, poverty law, or related client-service work
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a statewide team environment
  • Commitment to serving low-income and older adult communities
  • Prior supervisory or mentoring experience (preferred)
  • Awareness of legal issues affecting low-income and elder populations (preferred)
  • Experience working with vulnerable or underserved communities (preferred)
  • Attorneys returning to practice after a career break are encouraged to apply (preferred)
