About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • This position provides for Senior Leadership in Civil, Structural, and Geotechnical engineering solutions for new development projects at Leeward including wind, solar, and storage.
  • The primary responsibility is providing solutions to improve overall plant cost, operational costs, performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Reports to the Senior Director of Development Engineering.
  • Ensure the management and delivery of the preliminary internal engineering needed to support the Development pipeline.
  • Oversee and manage engineering activities, including preliminary and final geotechnical investigations, corrosion analysis, pile load testing, grading analysis, hydrology studies.
  • Ensure that issue for construction drawings and specifications are provided and documentation accurately reflects the installed facility.
  • Review civil calculations and plans to provide a 30% design package for contractor bids and work with contractors to further optimize the design to IFC.
  • Direct Mid and Junior Level civil engineers and review of their work, and mentor Junior Level Civil Engineers.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-Year Bachelors Engineering Degree
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant technical experience; renewable power generation preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to clearly communicate ideas to non-engineers.
  • Ability to remain focused and reliable in completing tasks and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and manage technical projects, including interaction with outside vendors.
  • Understanding of civil, geotechnical, and structural design as it relates to renewable energy projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license.
