About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review numerous types of (re)insurance and vendor contracts, including reinsurance treaties, binding authority agreements, third-party administrator agreements, and wholesale broker agreements.
- Prepare various insurance regulatory filings and manage regulatory responses and engagement with government agencies.
- Research variety of legal and regulatory issues related to distribution and product offerings.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in (re)insurance and distribution, and advise leadership on potential impacts and necessary operational changes.
- Assist with governance-related matters relating to the parent company and its subsidiaries in the U.S. and overseas.
- Advise on corporate structure and entity formation matters.
- Advise on AI, privacy, cybersecurity and IP legal matters.
- Assist in the buildout and effective and efficient operations of Ledgebrook’s Legal, Regulatory & Compliance function.
- Work collaboratively across the organization to assist all business units with their legal and regulatory matters, building rapport and credibility grounded in subject-matter expertise and responsiveness.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in at least one (1) state.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience practicing law, preferably in an in-house role for an (re)insurance company or a law firm specializing in advice to the (re)insurance industry on a range of issues.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. insurance laws/regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Agility to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- High degree of professionalism, ethics, and integrity.
