About the role
- Provide strategic leadership for Kyverna’s Field Medical function across Western USA, setting the vision, priorities, and operating framework for regional scientific engagement and external collaboration.
- Develop, lead, and maintain high-impact, long-term relationships with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders, clinical investigators, academic research centers, professional societies, and patient advocacy groups to position Kyverna as a scientific and clinical thought partner.
- Serve as a senior scientific ambassador for Kyverna’s cell therapy platform and autoimmune disease portfolio, driving sophisticated, compliant scientific exchange to advance disease understanding, therapeutic adoption, and evidence-generation needs.
- Shape and influence Medical Affairs strategy by synthesizing high-quality field insights, including protocol feedback, treatment landscape evolution, unmet needs, real-world practice patterns, and competitive intelligence to inform clinical development, commercial planning, and lifecycle management.
- Provide senior oversight and partnership with clinical trial sites to anticipate and resolve barriers to identification, screening, enrollment, and retention
- Support commercial site activation, operational readiness, and optimal study execution as a member of site activation team.
- Oversee regional scientific activities such as advisory boards, congress planning, symposium support, investigator meetings, and scientific engagement initiatives; represent Kyverna at major international conferences as a senior leader.
- Support evaluation and development of investigator-initiated trials, scientific collaborations, and research partnerships, ensuring alignment with Kyverna’s medical strategy and organizational priorities.
- Build and mentor a high-performing regional MSL organization, including talent acquisition, training, coaching, and performance management to achieve excellence in scientific engagement and field execution.
- Ensure strategic alignment and cross-functional collaboration with Clinical Development, Safety, Regulatory, Commercial, Market Access, and Corporate Affairs, acting as a key advisor and scientific resource for internal leaders.
- Maintain deep and current expertise in autoimmune disease, cellular therapy, neuromuscular disorders, and emerging scientific literature to guide internal strategy and external engagement.
- Champion compliance, ethical scientific exchange, and adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies; ensure regional consistency in messaging, medical governance, and documentation practices.
- Ability to travel extensively across the region (up to 50 percent), including occasional weekends and short-notice requests, to fulfill leadership responsibilities.
Requirements
- 12+ years of progressive Medical Affairs experience with at least 5 years in a senior management or field leadership role, within neuromuscular therapeutics.
- Advanced scientific or medical degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent) required.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing regional or global Medical Affairs strategies, including scientific engagement, evidence generation, and cross-functional alignment.
- Strong expertise in Myasthenia Gravis or related neuromuscular disorders strongly preferred. Expertise in neuroimmunology disorders also highly desirable.
- Proven ability to build, lead, mentor, and inspire high-performing MSL or field-medical teams.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to convey complex science and influence senior stakeholders.
- Highly strategic thinker with strong operational discipline; demonstrates independent judgment, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong collaborative mindset with a track record of successfully partnering across Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, and Executive Leadership teams.
