About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across platforms and services

  • Analyze performance issues and provide technical consultation to IT teams
  • Support new product installation and evaluation
  • Participate in scheduled Disaster Recovery planning and tests
  • Lead daily Operations meetings when no P1 incidents are running
  • Provide technical guidance to the team
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to system software requirements
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues related to z/OS

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in a z/OS System Administration environment
  • Experience with work management, user management, journal management, and performance management
  • Expertise supporting the z/OS operating system and system components
  • Experience planning, coordinating, installing, implementing, and testing z/OS releases, upgrades, and changes
  • Experience supporting assigned ISV products
  • Experience diagnosing z/OS platform and product issues and performing root cause analysis
  • Experience analyzing performance issues and providing technical consultation
  • Experience with new product installation and evaluation
  • Experience participating in Disaster Recovery planning and tests
  • Validated knowledge of z/OS, Unix System Services, SMP/E, REXX, Java, VSAM, and third-party products
  • Proven experience providing support for ISV products
  • Ability to recognize complex problems related to functional objectives
  • Ability to analyze situations and implement solutions or develop system elements, procedures, or processes
  • Demonstrated ability with BRMS, tape management, and ATL/VTL for tape libraries
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
  • SME-level z/OS system programming problem determination
  • Technical guidance experience
  • Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills
  • Experience troubleshooting infrastructure and application issues related to z/OS
