About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and maintain high-volume business logic running on mainframes
Refactor legacy code so modern cloud and mobile applications can interact with mainframe core data
Monitor architecture and identify opportunities to optimize code and maintain mainframe performance
Debug, troubleshoot, and analyze complex system interactions
Extract business logic from legacy systems for migration or integration with cloud-based services
Develop scalable and robust software using software development methodologies
Work with global communities of experts on mainframe modernization

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience working as a software engineer on complex software projects
Excellent coding skills and solid development experience with Java, Python, .Net, or similar
Debugging and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated experience developing scalable and robust software using software development methodologies
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
Experience with data mapping, XML/JSON, and REST-based web services
Knowledge of architecture design, including microservices architecture
Knowledge of containers, including Docker and Kubernetes
Knowledge of messaging queues
Deep understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience preferred
Certification in one or more hyperscalers such as Azure, AWS, or Google GCP preferred; certifications may be obtained with Kyndryl
Experience with DevOps tools and modern engineering practices preferred
If hired to work at a client, customer, or partner location, may be required to show proof of vaccination under that location's policy
