About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build and maintain high-volume business logic on the mainframe
  • Manual refactoring for containerization
  • Create Docker images and Helm charts
  • Tune container runtime and application configurations
  • Deploy and validate workloads on GKE environments
  • Assess current WAS application landscapes, architecture, and dependencies
  • Identify application components, middleware configurations, and integration touchpoints
  • Evaluate application readiness for containerisation and GKE migration
  • Collaborate with architects to define migration strategy
  • Develop detailed migration plans, including timelines, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Design target-state architecture on GKE
  • Configure and validate GKE clusters, networking, and security settings
  • Containerise and migrate WAS applications to GKE

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong hands-on experience in Kubernetes and GKE
  • Expertise in WebSphere Application Server (WAS)
  • Experience in containerisation (Docker)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, Argo CD, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Helm, Kubernetes manifests, kubectl
  • Experience with GCP services (compute, networking, IAM, load balancing)
