About the role
- Provide advanced support for DB2 z/OS environments, including installation, configuration, and upgrades
- Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and space management
- Manage backup and recovery strategies, including disaster recovery procedures
- Monitor and troubleshoot DB2 subsystems, resolving incidents and optimizing queries
- Collaborate with application teams to support COBOL/DB2 programs and batch jobs
- Implement and maintain security policies, access controls, and audit compliance
- Automate routine tasks using REXX, JCL, or other scripting tools
- Work with tools such as BMC, CA Platinum, SMPE, ISPF, and SMS
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide Level 3 support for production issues
- Document procedures, configurations, and best practices
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a DB2 DBA on z/OS
- Strong knowledge of mainframe architecture, JCL, and REXX scripting
- Experience with high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and performance dashboards
