About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Adopt the given technology to meet changing customer and business requirements.
Perform storage box data migration, including DASD to DASD and tape to tape, and storage replication.
Analyze and research options for collaboration with existing external systems.
Prepare root cause analyses and meet service-level agreement submission requirements.
Develop, document and maintain procedures for backup/restore, performance tuning, environment configuration and incremental backups.
Initialize and add new DASD and tape volumes.
Perform space management activities including VTOC resizing, defragmentation, compression, reclaiming, releasing and cleaning datasets.
Manage and define SMS rules and ACS routines, including reorganization of storage datasets, RMM/HSM CDS and catalog files.
Plan disaster recovery and perform recovery tests involving tape recovery, DASD replication and tape replication.
Manage Copy Services and GDPS.
Determine and resolve problems within expected timeframes and SLAs, identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
Lead daily operations meetings when no P1 incidents are running.
Provide technical support for production mainframe environments with multiple LPARs, CECs, DASD and VTS controllers.
Recommend modernization options, identify business opportunities and collaborate with teams and stakeholders.

Requirements

What you’ll need

9+ Years of Experience in Mainframe Storage Administration.
Experience with DASD and tape data storage solutions, including DASD/Tape Configuration and Migration, for mainframes.
Working knowledge of Z/OS Operating System, z/OS(MVS) fundamentals, Storage fundamentals and Storage Devices.
Good knowledge of TSO, ISPF, JCL, VSAM, ISMF, JES2, Catalogs, Datasets (PS/PDS/PDSE/GDG), REXX, SAS, SDSF and Spool.
Good knowledge and experience with DFSMS, DFSMSHSM, DFSMSDSS, DFSMSDFP, DFSMSRMM, ICF Catalog, VSAM, IDCAMs, CA products, FDR products, Omegamon XE or related Storage monitoring tools, ICKDSF, Space abends and SMF/Dcollect/BVIR reports.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is listed as preferred.
Experience supporting a production mainframe environment with multiple LPARs, CECs, DASD and VTS controllers.
Experience in Storage box data migration and Storage replication.
Ability to work in customer work hours across US, Europe and Asia Pacific, including weekends and holidays as on-call staff.
