About the role
- Assist in overseeing steel erection activities working with the Project Manager(s) and General Superintendent, Superintendent, General Foreman, and Foreman.
- Meet daily with project crews to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment, and resources are readily available for production to maintain schedule and within budget.
- Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data through the duration of the project to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
- Provide technical input for project work planning and scheduling.
- Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment, or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
- Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to accurately track project performance.
- Document daily activities in HeavyJob and Autodesk Construction Cloud Build.
- Notify team members and manager of any significant schedule changes and recommend solutions for management consideration.
- Provide accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
- Manage cost coding with Company finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment, and Subcontractor needs.
- Recommend field material and asset purchases.
- Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during the project work, and after work completes.
- Initiate and manage appropriate certificates, inspections, and other documentation regarding construction production on the project site.
- Assist construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the project site.
- Assist the estimating team with project schedules and provide technical input as needed.
- Review structural steel erection estimates and proposals as required.
- Assist in the development of design drawings and provides technical input, as needed.
- Reconcile job close-out checklist with owner representative and field crews at the end of the project.
- Maintain knowledge of Company values and strategic plan.
- Ensure project and Company safety standards and environmental programs are adhered to.
- Maintain current contacts, and development new contacts, in the construction industry with a view to sourcing new steel erection opportunities in Washington State and other US markets.
- Be an ambassador of the Company both internally and externally while liaising with Clients, Owners, and Unions.
Requirements
- 0-2 years of construction experience, preferably including structural steel installation.
- Steel Bridge and Industrial construction experience is preferred.
- Enrolled in an ABET Certified Civil or Construction Engineering, or Construction Management, program is required.
- Experience with HeavyJob, HeavyBid, and or Autodesk Construction Cloud Build is advantageous.
- Beginner knowledge of crane / lifting operations and rigging, construction equipment and techniques, review of drawings and specifications, building materials, and applicable project standards.
- Site experience working with the structural ironworker trade is preferred.
- Ability to assume responsibility and interface and communicate effectively with others.
- Must be eligible to work in the US.
- Eligibility to work in Canada would be advantageous.
