About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and maintain the KTF communications calendar across campaigns, newsletters, media and donor plans
  • Capture and produce content across projects, applying a localisation lens
  • Manage social media, including planning content, posting and tracking engagement
  • Prepare and distribute media releases and support media liaison
  • Keep website content fresh and support production of the Annual Report
  • Prepare content for key partners to their deadlines
  • Maintain the donor database and support donor retention, reactivation and stewardship
  • Deliver targeted fundraising campaigns, including content, creative, collateral and digital assets
  • Produce newsletters and donor EDMs and support donor communications, reports and plans
  • Support KTF events, including ticketing, donation platforms and fundraising items
  • Prepare content that raises the profile of KTF leadership
  • Assist with donor grant applications, reporting and website fundraising content
  • Apply brand guidelines across public content and collateral
  • Maintain templates, boilerplate copy and shared communications resources
  • Support compliance with accreditation, fundraising and donor standards
  • Administer communications quality-assurance processes, including consent and digital asset management
  • Help develop onboarding materials and support communications induction for staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2 years' experience in a communications, marketing, fundraising or supporter-facing role; paid or substantial volunteer experience considered
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Ability to produce clear, accurate and engaging content for different audiences
  • Ability to adapt one story across multiple formats and work to a defined tone and style
  • Confidence with digital communications and social media, including content creation, scheduling and performance tracking
  • Willingness to quickly learn fundraising, events, workflow and asset-management systems
  • Superb organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a communications calendar and juggle competing deadlines across multiple projects
  • Collaborative and adaptable approach suited to a small team
  • Flexibility to support other KTF teams and occasional out-of-hours work around campaigns and events
  • Cultural awareness and commitment to locally led, ethical storytelling
  • Relevant qualification in communications, marketing, international development or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience coordinating appeals, campaigns or events desirable
  • Familiarity with grant and donor reporting desirable
  • Experience drafting media releases or liaising with media desirable
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn, Australian NGO fundraising and communications compliance desirable
  • Genuine interest in international development, humanitarian work and KTF's mission in Papua New Guinea
  • Must have the right to work in Australia
  • Willingness/ability to travel domestically and internationally to Papua New Guinea
  • Successful candidate must obtain a Working with Children check and Police Certificate
