About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop, maintain and optimise integrated work programmes, ensuring activities are coordinated, dependencies are understood and potential conflicts are identified early.
Maintain a rolling 18–24-month workbank plan, providing the long-term visibility needed to support strategic decision-making while also developing detailed weekly schedules to keep delivery on track.
Developing and maintaining integrated schedules, including dependencies and critical paths.
Planning and forecasting work programmes across multiple infrastructure disciplines.
Maintaining an 18–24-month rolling plan and forecasting labour, plant and material requirements.
Preparing accurate financial and delivery forecasts and monitoring performance against plan.
Working closely with Finance, Production and Asset teams to align budgets, schedules and delivery.
Analysing actual costs and timeframes against planned estimates and identifying variances.
Coordinating resources and resolving scheduling conflicts to optimise delivery.
Liaising with Network Integration and Isolation Planners to ensure appropriate track access and isolations are in place.
Facilitating weekly planning meetings, documenting actions and ensuring follow-up.
Distributing weekly work schedules and keeping stakeholders informed of changes.
Identifying risks, constraints and critical pinch points and developing appropriate mitigations and contingency plans.
Producing high-quality monthly reports for governance, senior management and external reporting requirements.
Using data and insights to identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, cost and delivery timeframes.
Supporting consistent planning standards, processes and best practice across regions.
Promoting a proactive safety culture and ensuring safety is embedded in all planning and scheduling activities.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Significant experience in planning, monitoring and forecasting project or work activities, preferably within infrastructure or rail.
Experience developing and maintaining integrated programme schedules.
Strong analytical and forecasting skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends, risks and variances.
Experience analysing actual costs and timeframes against planned estimates.
Experience using project planning and scheduling tools such as P6, Microsoft Project and Excel.
Experience conducting risk assessments and contributing to risk registers.
Strong reporting skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality reports for governance and external stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across multiple teams and levels.
A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.
Commercial awareness and an understanding of how planning decisions can affect cost and delivery.
The ability to adapt and respond effectively in a dynamic operational environment.
A commitment to diversity, inclusion and creating a positive workplace.
A current and valid Full New Zealand Driver Licence (restricted Driver Licence may be considered).
The ability and willingness to travel nationally as required.
The ability to pass regular drug and alcohol screening.
