About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

As a Remote Control Operator (RCO), your primary responsibility will be to shunt trains and move wagons to and from customer sidings
You may at times also be required to act as Rail Operator
You will remain alert and vigilant to carry out the role in a safe and timely manner in accordance with rail operating procedures
When carrying out train inspection duties, you will ensure that all vehicles comprising the train are in a fit state to commence the journey and meet all health, safety, and rail operating requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need

2 – 4 years’ experience as a Rail Operator or certification as a Remote Control Operator
A strong commitment to health and safety principles
The ability to work calmly and remain vigilant in busy rail settings
Strong verbal and written communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
The confidence to support and coach team members when required
Proven leadership and mentoring aptitude
Drive and determination to delivery results
Full, clean NZ Driver’s license
