About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • As a Remote Control Operator (RCO), your primary responsibility will be to shunt trains and move wagons to and from customer sidings
  • You may at times also be required to act as Rail Operator
  • You will remain alert and vigilant to carry out the role in a safe and timely manner in accordance with rail operating procedures
  • When carrying out train inspection duties, you will ensure that all vehicles comprising the train are in a fit state to commence the journey and meet all health, safety, and rail operating requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2 – 4 years’ experience as a Rail Operator or certification as a Remote Control Operator
  • A strong commitment to health and safety principles
  • The ability to work calmly and remain vigilant in busy rail settings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
  • The confidence to support and coach team members when required
  • Proven leadership and mentoring aptitude
  • Drive and determination to delivery results
  • Full, clean NZ Driver’s license
