About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver quality health care as a member of a health care team under physician supervision
  • Obtain complete health histories and accurately document findings
  • Perform general examinations, diagnostic tests, and specialized procedures according to protocol
  • Provide specialized and advanced practice services within training scope
  • Educate patients on medications, diseases, health promotion, and care instructions
  • Follow up on abnormal findings, address clinical needs, and refer patients as appropriate
  • Document examinations and treatment plans in the electronic medical record
  • Consult with and review complex cases with the supervising physician
  • Complete continuing medical education and share clinical updates with the APP team and leadership
  • Attend APP and clinical site meetings
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and provide input on clinical processes
  • Coordinate clinic coverage and provide backup coverage
  • Deliver team-based, patient-centered care and involve patients and families in decisions
  • Use care team members and evidence-based practice resources appropriately
  • When assigned to Heart Failure Clinic: order and interpret cardiac testing, prescribe and titrate therapy, monitor advanced therapies, and provide disease-management education
  • When assigned to Electrophysiology Clinic: diagnose and manage arrhythmias, interpret monitoring and testing, assist with electrophysiology procedures, manage cardiac devices, review remote monitoring, and educate patients
  • Collaborate with care team members and support staff
  • Act as a clinical team leader for safety, training, and staff support as indicated
  • Provide care appropriate to the assigned population and unit
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • California Nurse Practitioner license and Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number
  • California RN license
  • BLS certification
  • Nurse Practitioner certification by a national certification board
  • Master's degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice degree; alternatively, qualifying pre-2003 or pre-2001 Medicare billing privileges with NP certification
  • DEA registration
  • Medical staff credentialing clearance from the Kaweah Health Medical Staff office before hire
  • Bilingual ability preferred
  • For Heart Failure Clinic assignment: cardiovascular assessment skills, device management, and ability to manage cardiomyopathy, hypertension, post-MI heart failure, and volume overload
  • For Electrophysiology Clinic assignment: knowledge of arrhythmia management, ECG/EKG and cardiac monitoring interpretation, electrophysiology procedures, cardiac device management, and anticoagulation management
