About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Enter spatial data using established GIS workflows, coordinate geometry, digitizing methods, and georeferencing techniques
Georeference design plans, record surveys, and historic maps for GIS database integration
Produce custom maps, exhibits, and sketches using ESRI ArcGIS software
Perform ArcGIS spatial analysis and geoprocessing to generate spreadsheets, data tables, statistics, and project deliverables
Develop, update, and maintain GIS data libraries and field data collection feature codes
Create and maintain static geometric utility networks and perform routine diagnostics
Review GIS data for completeness and accuracy using established quality control procedures
Create, edit, and maintain GIS features, attributes, and metadata from multiple data sources
Respond to client and stakeholder requests for GIS data, maps, and related information
Incorporate record surveys into GIS databases through georeferencing and hyperlinking
Maintain current knowledge of GIS principles, database design, emerging technologies, hardware, and software
Assist with construction inspections as required
Support underground utility locate activities when needed
Represent Kaukahi at client, project, and stakeholder meetings
Perform additional duties to support project objectives and client requirements
Adapt to evolving project priorities as directed by company and project leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in GIS, Geography, Information Systems Management, or a closely related field with major coursework in GIS; equivalent academic credentials or a GIS certification may be accepted
7–10 years of experience utilizing GIS technology in a multi-user GIS environment
Comparable combinations of education, training, and experience may substitute for certain minimum qualifications
Valid state driver's license, or ability to obtain and maintain one upon employment
Driving record meeting Kaukahi's driving policy and insurance requirements
Knowledge of GIS principles and technologies
Knowledge of GPS receivers, satellite constellation theory, signalization, field data collection hardware, and post-processing methods
Knowledge of data entry, digitizing, and georeferencing from aerial imagery and mapping products
Knowledge of project management principles and organizational practices
Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS (ArcMap) and/or ArcGIS Pro
Ability to integrate CAD data within ArcGIS Desktop environments
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to operate scanners, printers, large-format plotters, and other office equipment
Ability to use personal computers and standard office software
Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior GIS analysts and field technicians
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to organize work, prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to maintain reliable full-time attendance
Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English
Ability to meet physical requirements, including frequent lifting and carrying of 25–50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds
Preferred or highly desirable experience with utility distribution systems, utility locating and surveying, GPR, Trimble Business Center, Trimble Access, and ArcGIS extensions/add-ons
Preferred certifications: GISP and ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Professional (EADP)
