About the role
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small but impactful FP&A team, providing consistent feedback, career development guidance, and performance management
- Define and communicate the vision, mandate, and operating model for FP&A in a “public ready” environment, including how the team partners with Strategy, Accounting, Treasury, and business leaders
- Set and enforce high standards for analytical rigor, data integrity, timeliness, and clarity across all FP&A outputs
- Promote a culture of accountability, creative problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration within the Strategic Finance team
- Inspire and create a motivating environment through coaching, mentoring, and enablement
- Provide opportunities to participate in both formal and informal developmental activities
- Working with senior leaders and department head, set expectations for all team members and hold employees accountable for results
- Own the end-to-end financial planning calendar, including the annual operating plan (AOP), long-range plan (LRP), quarterly reforecasts, and monthly outlooks
- Design and implement scalable, repeatable FP&A processes that mirror public-company discipline (e.g., structured monthly close and reporting cycles, standardized packages, clear calendar and expectations)
- Lead the evaluation, selection, implementation, and ongoing governance of planning and reporting tools, with a particular emphasis on Anaplan or similar enterprise planning platforms
- Build and refine forecasting methodologies (e.g., driver-based, cohort, portfolio/credit, and revenue models) appropriate for a high-growth financial services company
- Oversee company-wide budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure they are accurate, timely, and aligned with strategic and financial objectives
- Develop and continuously improve executive-ready reporting for senior leadership and the Board, including monthly and quarterly business reviews and deep dives
- Lead the creation of robust scenario analysis and sensitivity models to support strategic decisions (e.g., growth investments, pricing changes, risk appetite, capital allocation, and funding strategies)
- Translate company-level goals into detailed financial targets and KPIs by business unit, product, and function, and ensure clear accountability for performance against plan.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or advanced finance certification (e.g., CFA or FPAC) preferred
- 8–10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, and/or management consulting, with a substantial portion in financial services (required)
- Demonstrated experience building, scaling, or transforming FP&A capabilities at a high-growth and/or public company, ideally including:
- Ownership of budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes
- Exposure to public-company–style controls, calendar discipline, and Board/Executive reporting
- Proven track record of owning and improving core FP&A processes in a way that makes a private company effectively “public ready” (e.g., governance, documentation, auditability, repeatability)
- Hands-on experience implementing and/or administering modern planning tools, preferably Anaplan, including model design and integration with ERP/GL and data platforms
- Demonstrated experience leveraging AI and machine learning tools to enhance FP&A capabilities, including but not limited to forecasting accuracy, anomaly detection, scenario modeling, and the automation of routine analytical tasks. A strong desire to continue developing these skills and driving AI adoption across the finance function is required
- Expert-level financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to both build and review complex models (revenue, expense, cohort, portfolio/credit, and cash flow)
- Exceptional communication skills and executive presence, with a demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and simplify complex concepts for non-finance audiences
- Strong leadership skills with a successful track record of building, developing, and retaining high-performing FP&A teams
- High degree of organization, attention to detail, and ownership in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
