About the role
- Act as a trusted advisor and thought leader, shaping cybersecurity concerns by facilitating discovery sessions, engaging clients, and documenting use cases that translate threats into cyber risk intelligence products.
- Engineer custom ETL pipelines (Power Query, DAX, SQL, Python) and build scalable Power BI models and logic.
- Deliver responsive Power Apps/Power Automate solutions with automated QA/QC and sound change-management practices.
- Deliver executive-level risk briefings and align products to governance drivers (OMB, NIST, DHS).
- Translate evolving cybersecurity/privacy guidance into practical, decision-ready tools (KRIs, scorecards, narratives).
- Provide strategic thought leadership, drive adoption through clear non-technical communication, set direction with repeatable use cases, and elevate organizational knowledge.
- Lead pioneering research, prototype ML/AI opportunities, and champion innovative approaches to visualization and risk management to transition findings into production.
Requirements
- 5+ years of leading discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews; reframes ambiguous asks into crisp problem statements and measurable outcomes; documents product use cases to guide design and ensure stakeholder alignment; engages clients directly to validate requirements and sustain buy-in; builds business cases and communicates trade-offs and risks in plain language; demonstrates thought leadership by shaping solution roadmaps, influencing adoption, and driving change-management across the organization.
- 5+ years of Advanced Power BI (data modeling, DAX), Power Query (M), SQL, and Python for custom ETL/automation; designs star/semantic models with performance and governance in mind.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Factory; Power Automate and Power Apps.
- Applies Agile methodology (sprint planning, backlog grooming, definition of done), baked-in QA/QC and data quality checks, clear documentation, and repeatable patterns/templates.
- Familiarity with FISMA/OMB/NIST/DHS guidance and translating control/risk concepts into KRIs, scorecards, and executive-level narratives.
- Knowledge of general cybersecurity concepts and terms.
- Knowledge of NIST Special Publications relating to cybersecurity risk management (i.e., SP 800-37, SP 800-53).
- Executive-ready writing and storytelling with data; facilitates cross-functional decisions; mentors peers; builds reusable assets and enablement materials.
- Certified Analytics Professional (CAP or DASCA Senior Data Scientist) or the ability to obtain one within the first 90 days of employment (preferred).
- Microsoft Power BI Certification (PL-300) or the ability to obtain one within the first 90 days of employment (preferred).
- CISSP or CISM preferred or the ability to obtain one within the first 90 days of employment.
- Must hold, or be eligible to obtain and maintain, a Federal Security Clearance.
