Support the Admissions Office and perform application reviews throughout the recruitment cycle(s).
Participate in a thorough training process led by admissions staff.
After training, support initial review for first-year applicants for both domestic and international students.
Review bio data, transcripts/tests, essays, resumes and recommendations for each applicant and provide a thorough bio summary and rankings.
Complete evaluations in accordance with department/division standards and timelines.
Meet strict deadlines and weekly numerical targets for files read.
Other duties as assigned.
Work 20-40 hours per week, mid-October through mid-March; remote work requiring a private computer and reliable internet.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree.
One year of related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Some experience with higher education, especially the evaluation of undergraduate or graduate applications (preferred).
Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Word, OnBase).
Strong time management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
Ability to work effectively with admissions staff members.
Sensitivity to the needs of differing groups of students.
Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of diverse populations.
Familiarity with high school transcripts and curricula, both domestic and international (preferred).
Strong analytical and reading skills.
Work well independently and ask questions when necessary.
Ability to meet strict deadlines, including weekly numerical targets for files read.
Demonstrate utmost level of confidentiality and professionalism regarding Johns Hopkins University application review process and applicant information.
Must have a private computer and space to conduct file review, along with reliable internet.
Current CBO, independent, school, or admissions counselors are NOT eligible to apply due to potential conflict of interest; also, cannot have a child currently applying to college.
