About the role
- Perform complex analysis and planning to assist management in establishing and controlling budgets, setting financial goals, making projections and meeting fiscal objectives
- Perform financial and planning activities in support of various functions, e.g., budgeting, financial planning, revenue and expenditure monitoring against budget, reconciliations and changes, and consolidation
- Extract financial data from various accounting and information systems and generate reports
- Perform complex statistical cost and financial analysis of reports and data and prepare reports for management to improve financial performance and compliance
- Provide data-based recommendations on critical financial business decisions
- Analyze, coordinate and consolidate departmental financial information for development of annual operating and/or capital budgets and five-year plans
- Review financial needs and explore alternative financing methods; make budget adjustments and implement cost improvement measures
- Prepare and present budget proposals to senior management
- Create financial systems, structures, and controls; implement quality control and process improvements
- Review proposed operating and financial plans, evaluate capital expenditure proposals, profit plans, operating records and financial statements
- Oversee moderately complex to complex budget accounts and provide oversight for expenditure of funds
- Keep abreast of laws and regulations that impact compliance and act as a resource for administrative and financial staff
- Use various software applications to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports
- Perform other related duties as requested
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field
- Five years progressively responsible related financial/accounting experience
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education per JHU equivalency formula
