About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Overseeing the Department’s annual GAAP reporting processes.
Planning, directing, evaluating, and coordinating operations and activities of the General Accounting and Technical Support Section.
Establishing, directing, implementing accounting policy, methods, and procedures related to operations.
Monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing automated accounting systems to ensure compliance with GAAP.
Conducting strategic planning and prioritizing accounting needs of the department.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in fiscal management, accounting, and budgeting
Requires prior experience equivalent to four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in accounting, external auditing or budgetary planning and control, or public accounting
Preferred: Three (3) years of professional experience working with principles of governmental accounting, auditing theory, and methods
Preferred: Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Preferred: A master’s degree in business administration, finance, public administration, accounting, and/or economics
Required: Completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
Required: Ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop.
Required: Ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
