About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Overseeing the Department’s annual GAAP reporting processes.
- Planning, directing, evaluating, and coordinating operations and activities of the General Accounting and Technical Support Section.
- Establishing, directing, implementing accounting policy, methods, and procedures related to operations.
- Monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing automated accounting systems to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Conducting strategic planning and prioritizing accounting needs of the department.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in fiscal management, accounting, and budgeting
- Requires prior experience equivalent to four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in accounting, external auditing or budgetary planning and control, or public accounting
- Preferred: Three (3) years of professional experience working with principles of governmental accounting, auditing theory, and methods
- Preferred: Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Preferred: A master’s degree in business administration, finance, public administration, accounting, and/or economics
- Required: Completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
- Required: Ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop.
- Required: Ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
