About the role
- Works with the District 6 staff, Office of Planning and Programming, and the Bureau of Operations to develop and deliver the projects in the Statewide Annual Line Items.
- Assists in preparation of program revisions, program carryovers, and letting coordination.
- Prepares reports and spreadsheets for the Annual Program monitoring and accomplishments.
- Analyzes and develops recommendations to upper management for resolving funding and project implementation issues for the Statewide Annual Maintenance Programs.
- Reviews Programming guidelines and coordinates with the district and the Bureaus of Planning and Programming staff on proposals.
- Assists with the development of the Multi-year Program and scoping activities.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
- Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS five years of engineering experience; OR Seven years of engineering experience.
- Basic knowledge of roadway and bridge design components.
- Knowledge of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) overall program development and specific project planning and design processes.
- Ability to use database and spreadsheet computer applications, including data entry, data organization, and report development.
- Ability to manage workflow to coordinate multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with both district and IDOT central office staff.
