About the role
- Development, implementation, and interpretation of geometric design and engineering policies for highways construction
- Managing the content and publishing revisions for the Bureau of Design and Environment (BDE) Manual
- Maintain an effective liaison with district, central, and federal offices for policy input and resolution of problems
- Develop policies and procedures for conducting Phase I studies
- Monitor, evaluate, and recommend actions on changes in regulations and publications concerning design of highways
Requirements
- Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois
- Eight years of experience in civil engineering
- Three years supervising staff and managing engineering functions
- Experience with design policy and the planning and supervision of significant engineering functions
- Extensive knowledge of modern methods applicable to the design, construction, and maintenance of highways
- Good organization, leadership, and self-motivational skills
- Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships
- Requires a valid driver’s license
- Requires frequent statewide and occasional out-of-state travel with overnight stays.
