About the role

  • Developing and monitoring the district's Annual and Multi-Year Highway Improvement Programs in an efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Overseeing geographic information systems (GIS) and mapping assistance for district staff.
  • Coordinating the scoping activities and prepares engineering cost estimates.
  • Coordinating data necessary to maintain up to date records in the Program Planning System (PPS).
  • Coordinating the status of the annual and multi-year program data internally and with the Office of Planning and Programming.
  • Coordinating the oversight of district geographic information systems (GIS) and mapping projects.
  • Performing duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
  • Performing all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois.
  • Four years of experience in civil engineering.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with departmental staff.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of modern methods and techniques as applied to the design, construction and maintenance of public works.
  • Knowledge of the application of geographic information systems (GIS).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Requires successful completion of a background screening.
  • Requires districtwide travel.
