About the role
- Developing and monitoring the district's Annual and Multi-Year Highway Improvement Programs in an efficient and cost effective manner.
- Overseeing geographic information systems (GIS) and mapping assistance for district staff.
- Coordinating the scoping activities and prepares engineering cost estimates.
- Coordinating data necessary to maintain up to date records in the Program Planning System (PPS).
- Coordinating the status of the annual and multi-year program data internally and with the Office of Planning and Programming.
- Coordinating the oversight of district geographic information systems (GIS) and mapping projects.
- Performing duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
- Performing all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois.
- Four years of experience in civil engineering.
- Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with departmental staff.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering.
- Extensive knowledge of modern methods and techniques as applied to the design, construction and maintenance of public works.
- Knowledge of the application of geographic information systems (GIS).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Requires a valid driver’s license.
- Requires successful completion of a background screening.
- Requires districtwide travel.
