About the role

  • Provide all scoping and planning requirements for transportation related activities
  • Develop and provide planning documentation and data for implementation of projects
  • Coordinate Urbanized Area Transportation Studies
  • Maintain a data bank for accurate information on roads
  • Develop design traffic forecasts
  • Assure accurate collection of traffic count data
  • Develop recommendations for the annual and long-range program
  • Code project information into the recommended program
  • Scope non-MPO projects as assigned
  • Train, evaluate, and motivate staff

Requirements

  • Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois
  • Four years of experience in the practice of civil engineering
  • Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of civil engineering
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain harmonious relationships
  • Strong organizational and decision making skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Teams, and Access
  • Requires a valid driver’s license
  • Requires statewide travel with occasional overnight stays
