About the role

  • Conducts on-site inspections of airport construction projects.
  • Reviews the work of consultant engineers who act as resident engineers on airport projects.
  • Reviews change orders for proper documentation and recommends their approval.
  • Establishes final inspection punch list items.
  • Reviews payment requests for engineering inspection services and construction progress reports.
  • Reviews and processes as-built plans.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
  • Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois
  • Four years of experience in civil engineering
  • Working knowledge and experience in routine construction civil and infrastructure engineering projects, preferably on airports
  • Basic skills utilizing engineering field and office equipment
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications
  • Ability to write technical reports
  • Experience with construction and materials management software systems
  • Familiarity within the airport environment
  • Requires a valid driver’s license
  • Requires successful completion of a background screening
  • Requires frequent statewide travel with occasional overnight stays
