About the role
- Conducts on-site inspections of airport construction projects.
- Reviews the work of consultant engineers who act as resident engineers on airport projects.
- Reviews change orders for proper documentation and recommends their approval.
- Establishes final inspection punch list items.
- Reviews payment requests for engineering inspection services and construction progress reports.
- Reviews and processes as-built plans.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
- Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois
- Four years of experience in civil engineering
- Working knowledge and experience in routine construction civil and infrastructure engineering projects, preferably on airports
- Basic skills utilizing engineering field and office equipment
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications
- Ability to write technical reports
- Experience with construction and materials management software systems
- Familiarity within the airport environment
- Requires a valid driver’s license
- Requires successful completion of a background screening
- Requires frequent statewide travel with occasional overnight stays
