About the role
- Supervise and coordinate activities involved in preparing and reviewing drainage studies and plans, hydraulic reports for bridges, multi-box culverts, and pump stations for improvement projects.
- Ensure timely acceptance, engineering feasibility, and cost-effectiveness of drainage studies and hydraulic reports.
- Communicate effectively with federal, state, and local agencies to develop solutions to complex drainage problems.
- Review and provide guidance to staff and consultants on highway drainage and storm water management projects.
- Manage staff and consultants in preparation of hydraulic reports, scour evaluations, and cost-effective highway storm water pump stations.
- Train, direct, motivate, supervise, and evaluate subordinate personnel.
Requirements
- Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Illinois.
- Five years of experience in civil engineering.
- At least three years of experience in the preparation of location drainage studies and hydraulic reports (preferred).
- Three years of supervising experience (preferred).
- Working knowledge of the IDOT Drainage Manual and IDNR-OWR Floodway Construction Regulations (preferred).
- Training in the development and review of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and steady flow modeling (preferred).
- Proficiency in the use of River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) software program (preferred).
- Knowledge of modern methods and techniques as applied to the design, construction, and maintenance of public works.
- Ability to manage staff, consultants, bridge projects and clerical staff.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, ordinances and regulations related to storm water and floodplains.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
