About the role
- Prepares hydraulic reports and analyses to ensure that they are accurate, neat, complete and in compliance with the Bureau of Design and Environment’s (BDE) Manual and Drainage Manuals and Policies
- Reviews hydraulic calculations for highway access permits
- Handles documentation of the hydraulic procedures and key decisions made in report preparation needed to help keep bridge and related files up to date
- Performs field inspections to ensure that the information for report and plan preparation is accurate and completed on a timely basis
- Keeps informed of current departmental and district policies and procedures to ensure projects and reports are compliant with current policies and procedures
- Identifies scheduling requirements to complete work in a timely fashion
- Coordinates work with others, both inside and outside of Program Development, while keeping the Hydraulics Engineer aware of work issues
- Assists with the review of work completed by other hydraulics staff members
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules
- Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees
Requirements
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college OR master’s degree in engineering, OR Engineer Intern license in the state of Illinois
- 43 months of civil engineering experience
