About the role
- assist higher-level staff to gain knowledge and training in conducting routine engineering evaluations of public water supplies
- assist in investigating/evaluating/monitoring routine citizen complaints/inquiries regarding public water supplies
- assist in responding to public water supply emergencies
- provide routine assistance/guidance to officials/consultants in resolving routine operational issues and improving water quality
- collaborate with Region FOS Manager and/or Working Supervisor in evaluation of enforcement priorities
- attend and observe meetings with local officials and site representatives
- perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties
Requirements
- knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with a bachelor's degree in an engineering science
- no previous experience required
- ability to utilize a personal computer with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access software preferred
- ability to prepare clear and concise written reports and correspondence preferred
- good organizational skills and decision-making abilities preferred
- ability to establish and maintain oral communication and working relationships with municipal officials, facility operators and owners, plant managers, or their representatives preferred
- knowledge of public water treatment facilities, and related techniques, procedures, and processes preferred
- experience applying or complying with the rules governing the sanitary survey process of public water supplies consistent with Safe Drinking Water Act and State regulations preferred
