About the role
- Participates in the development, establishment, and implementation of overall program services for the Southern Reception and Classification Center and the Medium Security Unit located at Menard Correctional Center.
- Plans, organizes, and directs the overall Program functions and their managers within the Medium Security Unit, including offender identification, clinical services, mental health services, health care services, leisure activities, and work assignments.
- Facilitates programming opportunities for shorter-term offenders, including work assignments that provide training for employment opportunities upon release, enhance community assistance and public relations, and support efforts towards "Go Green" efforts, expanding awareness and participation of the offender population and staff in this field.
- Serves as Administrator over maximum-security assessment and programs.
- Participate in the expansion of educational and vocational opportunities for the offender population.
- Serves as full-line supervisor.
- Consults with courts, legal staff, law enforcement officials, and other agencies or specialists regarding care and custody of offenders.
Requirements
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in law enforcement, criminology, penology or a related field.
- Requires four years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a law enforcement public or private organization, a correctional facility or related field.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
- Requires possession of a Firearm Ownership Identification Card.
- Requires the ability to qualify with firearms within twelve months of start date, and annually thereafter in accordance with agency directive and state or federal laws.
- Requires the ability to be on-call.
- Requires the use of agency-supplied technology.
- Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires the ability to pass a drug screen.
