About the role

  • Responsible for the review of design, construction, maintenance, and operation of all private facilities placed on the state right of way under permit.
  • Accountable for the preparation and issuance of various permits relative to highway access, Logo Signing program, Tourist Oriented Directional Signing (T.O.D.S.) program, etc.
  • Responsible for accurate investigation, preparation, issuance, recording, and filing of highway permits in accordance with prescribed time schedules.
  • Ensure that all permit requests meet departmental objectives regarding the safety of the traveling public.
  • Provide diplomatic and tactful explanations of permit policy and administration.
  • Administer the Logo Program, Community Wayfinding Program and Adopt a Highway Program in the District.

Requirements

  • Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS six years of engineering experience; OR eight years of engineering experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong public interaction skills
