About the role

  • As Deputy Director - Region 2, manages, supervises, and evaluates the performance of Wardens.
  • Participates in conducting overall planning, development, and organization of Region 2.
  • Conducts annual review of pertinent Administrative Directives (A.D.).
  • Continually reviews and analyzes Region 2 problems relative to prison overcrowding, number, and classification of institutional population.
  • Represents the Director, Assistant Director, and Chief of Operations before the court, other public and private organizations, and community groups.
  • Serves as full-line supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in law enforcement, criminology, penology, or a related field.
  • Requires four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a law enforcement, public or private, organization, a correctional facility, or related field.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  • Requires possession of a Firearm Ownership Identification Card.
  • Requires the ability to qualify with firearms within twelve months of start date, and annually thereafter in accordance with agency directive and state or federal laws.
  • Requires the ability to be on-call.
  • Requires the use of agency-supplied technology.
  • Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires the ability to pass a drug screen.
  • Applicants are required to abide by all vaccine and or other medical standards set out by the employer.
