About the role
- As Deputy Director - Region 2, manages, supervises, and evaluates the performance of Wardens.
- Participates in conducting overall planning, development, and organization of Region 2.
- Conducts annual review of pertinent Administrative Directives (A.D.).
- Continually reviews and analyzes Region 2 problems relative to prison overcrowding, number, and classification of institutional population.
- Represents the Director, Assistant Director, and Chief of Operations before the court, other public and private organizations, and community groups.
- Serves as full-line supervisor.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Requirements
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in law enforcement, criminology, penology, or a related field.
- Requires four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a law enforcement, public or private, organization, a correctional facility, or related field.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
- Requires possession of a Firearm Ownership Identification Card.
- Requires the ability to qualify with firearms within twelve months of start date, and annually thereafter in accordance with agency directive and state or federal laws.
- Requires the ability to be on-call.
- Requires the use of agency-supplied technology.
- Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires the ability to pass a drug screen.
