About the role
- Prepares and issues various permits relative to highway access and other requests.
- Reviews design, construction, maintenance, and operation of private facilities under permit.
- Maintains harmonious relationships with applicants.
- Monitors all permits with a record and retrieval system to process applications.
- Trains, motivates, and evaluates subordinate staff.
Requirements
- Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering, or a job-related technical/science curriculum PLUS six years of engineering experience; OR Eight years of engineering experience.
- Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering; and extensive knowledge of current methods and techniques as applied to the design, construction, and maintenance of roadways.
- Ability to plan, organize, and establish priorities.
- Strong supervisory and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain harmonious relationships with employees, agency officials, and the public.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and experience communicating with the public.
