About the role
- Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, contracts, and estate planning documents.
Manage attorneys’ calendars, schedule client meetings, court dates, and deadlines.
Handle correspondence, including emails, phone calls, and mail distribution.
Maintain and organize digital and physical case files in compliance with firm procedures.
Communicate professionally with clients, providing updates and gathering necessary documentation.
Assist with client intake by collecting information, preparing forms, and setting up files.
Draft and send engagement letters, follow up on document requests, and ensure timely responses.
Coordinate document signing and notarization appointments.
File legal documents with the appropriate courts and agencies.
Track case deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and procedures.
Prepare and organize trial and hearing materials as needed.
Assist with time entry and billing procedures.
Coordinate office supply inventory and vendor relationships.
Support attorneys in managing workflow and prioritizing tasks efficiently.
Requirements
- Prior experience as a legal assistant, preferably in family law and/or estate planning
Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and document formatting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
