About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Strategically deploy curbside electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Philadelphia
  • Manage charger deployment projects overall
  • Assess sites and evaluate available power capacity
  • Lead project design and engineering, including drawings and specifications
  • Sign and stamp permit drawings for local authorities
  • Coordinate with local permit authorities and utilities
  • Manage contractor bidding and awards
  • Administer and coordinate construction
  • Evolve and expand company-wide technical and strategic standards
  • Evaluate alternative and novel methods to reduce charger installation cost and time
  • Manage technical sub-consultants
  • Coordinate with project managers and designers across regions
  • Represent the company at property site visits, public hearings, and community board events
  • Proactively manage permitting, technical work, and targeted project schedules

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in electrical engineering
  • Examples of complex urban design and build projects that have been physically built and are in use; urban rights-of-way experience is an advantage
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems in cities and buildings
  • Familiarity with and comfort interpreting NFPA 70 (NEC) and the National Electric Safety Code
  • Experience seeing complex projects through from concept to completion
  • Familiarity with traditional collaborative drafting and diagramming tools, including AutoCAD and Bluebeam
  • Ability to clearly convey engineering principles using non-technical language
  • Experience working with trades and contractors during construction and sign-off phases
  • Ability to contribute to project tracking and documentation tools and assets
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, communicate proactively, and thrive without direct daily supervision
  • Strong organization and ability to independently advance projects
  • Ability to make engineering calculations and prepare engineering designs and specifications
  • Ability to prepare plans and drawings neatly and accurately according to company guidelines
  • Ability to deal effectively with contractors, property owners, and the general public
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering as-builts
  • Ability to ensure compliance with State, Federal, local, and utility rules, laws, and regulations
  • Capacity to build and maintain productive, positive, long-term stakeholder relationships
  • Only Licensed Professional Engineers, or engineers who have completed their Engineer-in-Training programs, will be considered
  • Professional license must be maintained as a condition of employment
  • Ability to lift equipment up to 40 pounds
  • Flexibility to travel for local meetings and to company headquarters in Brooklyn as needed
