About the role
- Serve as a senior technical resource and team lead for systems engineering activities, providing leadership and mentorship to engineering staff
- Prioritize and manage system outages, projects, and operational tasks to ensure system availability and performance
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems infrastructure issues across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments
- Design, implement, and maintain operational server and systems infrastructure in alignment with Government standards, security requirements, and best practices
- Apply strong knowledge of systems principles, protocols, and architecture to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability
- Collaborate with systems, network, and security engineers, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve recurring, trending, or complex system issues
- Support cloud engineering initiatives, including migration strategies, system integration, and optimization
- Coordinate with data center engineering teams across multiple locations to ensure consistent and reliable system operations
- Support planning and execution of system upgrades, rollouts, and infrastructure modernization efforts
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure compliance with applicable security, configuration management, and change control policies
Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years of detailed technical experience in systems engineering
- Proven experience supporting enterprise-level server and systems infrastructure
- Strong expertise in systems design, implementation, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
- Experience prioritizing and managing operational workloads and outage response
- Experience working within formal configuration management and change control processes
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across technical teams and stakeholder groups
- Experience supporting or integrating cloud-based systems solutions
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
