About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, deployment and operation of scalable Kafka clusters (on-prem, Azure, OpenShift)
Configuration and operation of Kafka components (Broker, Connect, ksqlDB, among others)
Implementation of security and authentication mechanisms
Monitoring, log analysis and performance optimization
Incident management including root cause analysis and post-mortems
Automation using IaC and GitOps
Capacity and cost optimization
Documentation, best practices and team enablement

Requirements

What you’ll need

Deep experience with Apache Kafka / Confluent
Kafka (broker installation, cluster setup, topic management, partitioning, replication, quotas, ACLs)
Kafka Connect, ksqlDB / Kafka Streams, Schema Registry
Monitoring and performance tuning (JMX, Prometheus, Grafana, Kafka metrics)
Troubleshooting and incident response in production Kafka environments
Basic knowledge of Kubernetes / OpenShift
Understanding of network and security concepts (TLS/SSL, Kerberos, SASL)
German language skills C1/C2 or native speaker
Residence in the EU or UK
