About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monitor, record and report operational asset expenditure across the construction project lifecycle
- Liaise with stakeholders
- Contribute to monthly reporting
- Assist and support management of approximately £1.5 billion annually in capital construction projects
- Advise on correct accounting treatment
- Create fixed asset records
- Settle project costs
- Assess capital allowances
- Process and analyse information using SAP, Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Support statutory accounting, regulatory accounting and capital allowances tax claims
- Work with investment planning and delivery teams and external audit
- Spend time on operational sites
Requirements
What you’ll need- Interest in finance, engineering or operational assets
- Keen to learn, with financial or engineering awareness or qualifications
- Degree-level education preferred but not essential
- Good relationship-building skills and confidence to influence others when required
- Ability to challenge and change working practices
- Conscientiousness and strong emphasis on meeting deadlines
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Communication and creative thinking skills
- Ability to apply policies and rules to real-world situations
- IT literacy
- Preferably experience using Microsoft Excel and enthusiasm to learn new systems
- Full UK driving licence is desirable, with appropriate insurance, due to travel across office locations and operational sites
- Knowledge of water industry/utilities operational assets beneficial but not essential
