About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide on-the-ground assurance of health, safety, and CDM compliance across SMD projects, including site audits and safety reviews
  • Carry out site inspections and quality reviews to ensure works meet specifications, standards, and best practice
  • Support the delivery of a “right first time” culture by identifying risks early and promoting effective construction methods
  • Review programme performance and productivity trends, helping to identify risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
  • Deliver commercial assurance through site-based validation of costs, materials, and contractor outputs
  • Support the development of performance and quality KPIs, ensuring consistent measurement across the portfolio
  • Coach and support Project Engineers and delivery teams to drive improvements in safety, quality, and operational performance
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors to ensure aligned and effective delivery

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience in operational delivery, construction, or infrastructure environments, ideally within utilities or a regulated industry
  • Knowledge of health & safety requirements, including CDM regulations
  • Experience of quality, performance, or commercial assurance activities
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify risks and challenge constructively
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team environment
  • Good IT skills and a proactive, organised approach to work
