Country Director
Impact Investment Exchange (IIX)Country Director leading impact investing and sustainable finance initiatives in Indonesia for IIX. Developing partnerships and managing operations to drive growth and impact.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and execute a strategic business plan to expand IIX’s operations and presence in Indonesia, aligned with regional and global goals on impact investing, sustainable finance, gender-lens investing, and climate action.
- Identify and establish high-value partnerships with investors, corporations, government agencies, financial institutions, and development partners to deepen IIX’s engagement and visibility in Indonesia.
- Represent IIX in high-level forums, stakeholder meetings, and policy discussions on sustainable finance, gender-lens investing, and impact investing in Indonesia.
- Drive business development across the private and development sectors, generating revenue through advisory services, technical assistance programs, and investment facilitation aligned with IIX’s capital market activities.
- Build and nurture relationships with senior decision-makers in corporate, financial, and development institutions to drive client acquisition, retention, and expansion across Indonesia.
- Lead revenue-generating proposal development, bids, and contract negotiations; secure new mandates that advance IIX’s mission and revenue growth in the country.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Jakarta office — ensuring efficient delivery across all Indonesian workstreams, maintaining IIX’s quality standards, governance protocols, and risk management frameworks.
- Serve as the senior-most IIX leader accountable for all IIRI program activities in Indonesia — owning overall direction, governance, and quality; ensuring timely and accurate reporting to donors, partners, and internal stakeholders; and maintaining clear accountability frameworks across all program milestones.
- Act as the primary point of escalation and senior relationship owner for IIRI’s key stakeholders — representing IIX at the highest level in program-related engagements with government agencies, donors, and implementation partners.
- Lead, mentor, and grow the Indonesia team; cultivate a high-performance culture grounded in IIX’s PREM values — Passionate, Resilient, Equitable, Maverick.
- Drive accountability and ownership across the Indonesia office — setting clear goals, tracking progress rigorously, and ensuring every team member understands how their work contributes to IIX’s mission and targets.
- Collaborate closely with IIX’s regional and global teams to ensure efficient knowledge-sharing, cross-team coordination, and timely achievement of shared targets.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 15+ years of experience in business consulting (Big 4 or equivalent), financial services, banking, or impact investing — with a proven track record in growing and managing businesses in Indonesia.
- Strong understanding of Indonesia’s business, investment, and regulatory ecosystem; familiarity with sustainable and gender-lens finance is highly preferred.
- Proven experience in business development, client management, and stakeholder engagement, with a track record of securing mandates and building partnerships with corporates, financial institutions, and government agencies.
- Strong commercial acumen — understands how advisory mandates, technical assistance programs, and impact investing structures are scoped, priced, and delivered; able to engage credibly with senior counterparts in corporate, financial, and development institutions.
- An existing high-level network in Indonesia across corporate, financial, and government stakeholders is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams, setting direction, developing talent, managing performance, and building a culture of accountability and high ownership
- Prior experience working within or closely alongside an international organisation — comfortable navigating matrix structures, cross-border reporting lines, and the expectations of international donors, development finance institutions, or global advisory firms; understands how to operate effectively as a country leader within a global organisation.
- Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
